Salmon bite just right on north coast charter fishing boat
by George DeVilbiss

Ocean salmon: for those taking a party boat out of the San Francisco Bay Area, it’s a long run, up to 40 miles, to find limits of salmon. Boats the more closely fish the Marin County shoreline region are getting into a big Coho (silver) salmon bite but there are a few kings mixed in.

There has beena hot and furious salmon bite for those going out on boats from Bodega Bay that can make the run to the deeper water around the Cordell Banks. The New Sea Angler reported 25 limits of salmon by 10 a.m. one day last week.

In and around the Fort Bragg region, the hot bite has tapered off. One private boat that generally has excellent results with salmon went out last week and netted only two salmon. For the best ride with the fewest anglers aboard, try the “BRAGG-N,” a 31-foot Boston Whaler that holds no more than four or five anglers. Call 707-961-9692.
